RCCAOI National Rd1 [2010]

200mm A Final:

A perfect Easter Sunday saw the opening round of the 2010 Irish Onroad National Championship take place at the St.Annes track in Dublin where it was to be Shepherd’s day in terms of collecting the main silverware. In the 1:10 200mm Touring class it was reigning champion Chris Steele who narrowly claimed the TQ honours with his Velox V10 over the Serpent 733 of Keith Dempsey. The early part of the race saw the Top 3 pull clear of the field but both Demspey and 3rd place qualifier Chris Lawlor were to hit trouble allowing Steele to cruise to the win. Second spot would go to Robert Boylan who produced a really impressive and solid drive at the controls of his Serpent 733. Recovering from his earlier problems and recording the fastest lap of the race Lawlor managed to get his Kyosho back up to third to claim the final step on the podium.

1/8th A Final:

In the 1:8 former multiple Champion Clive Connolly was the Top Qualifier ahead of defending Champion Ian Campbell for what was to be a thrilling final. In early part of the race Connolly lead the way but over the last five minutes the Mugen driver ran out of tyres allowing the Shepherd Velox 8 of 1:10 Final winner Steele through with two minutes to go but the Northern Ireland driver wasn’t able to hold on for the double. In the dying moments of the race he too started to struggle with his tyres allowing Campbell to slip through and take the win by just 1.7 of a second to get his title defense off to the perfect start.

Memberships Due

All Club members,

To reduce administration time this year for the committee the following has been decided by the committee.

Memberships.
Membership forms should be submitted to the clubs secretary by the 5th March accompanied by membership payment. This can be paid by cheque / postal order or bank draft. Failure to have membership paid by 5th March will lead to drivers not been able to race in the first club round and national round.

Online Registration.

Online registration is a must for this year as it allows races in the computer to be set up prior to arriving at the track. The fee for online registration will be €10.00 per race entry and on the day registration will cost €17.00.

Setting up and putting away of equipment is not the function of the committee and therefore there will be a charge of €5.00 per day to all drivers which will be refunded when all clubs equipment have been tidied away at the end of the day.

All forms should be posted to :

David Boylan.
32 St Johnswood park,
Ashbourne,
Co Meath.
