We saw a wet start to the day on Sunday with some drivers thinking conditions would be un-raceable; this soon cleared and we saw a windy but excellent fourth round to the championship. Results and standings are now updated on the website.

Photos to follow.

Congratulations to all who made the podium.

RCCAOI National Rd3 [2010]

It was a beautiful sunny day for third round of the Irish Onroad Nitro National Championships that took place at the country’s only permanent track which is situated on the outskirts of Dublin city. Hot weather and sugar watering of the track on race morning made for perfect race conditions at the St.Annes circuit and in 1:10 200mm it was business as usual for defending champion Chris Steele. The Shepherd team driver maintained his domination of the class making it three out of three in qualifying by claiming his third TQ honours of the season taking his Murnan Modified RB powered Velox V10 around the track in the fastest five minute run of the 2010 season. In the 30-minute final Steele led from start to finish to take a convincing victory over the Serpent of David Mulligan. Having qualified second on the grid Chris Lawlor had a troubled race at the controls of Kyosho but still managed to maintain his run of podium finishes.

1:10 ‘A’ Final results
1.(1) Christopher Steele (Shepherd) – 102 laps
2.(8) David Mulligan (Serpent) – 91
3.(2) Chris Lawlor (Kyosho) – 85
4.(7) Oisin O’Briain (Serpent) – 83
5.(5) Thomas Ward (Xray) – 81
6.(9) Colm Gaffney (Serpent) – 80
7.(6) Laurence McCormick (Mugen) – 78
8.(3) Darren Gibb (Shepherd) – 58
9.(4) Robert Boylan (Serpent) – 16
10.(0)Aaron Lynch (Serpent) – 7

In 1:8, Austin Elliot became the third different Top Qualifier of the season after he secured pole with his Kyosho over the Shepherd of championship leader Ian Campbell. In the early part of the half hour encounter the battle up front was between Campbell and former Champion Clive Connolly until the Mugen driver retired when his Reds engine dropped a plug after just four minutes. This left Campbell and Elliot to battle it out for the win the pair swapping the lead a number of times as they pitted but in the end it was Campbell who took the race for his third win of the season. Eoin Doran completed the podium with his IDM powered Mugen to move into equal second with Connolly in the championship standings behind Campbell.

Steele & Campbell take third win in Irish Nats

Parking in St. Annes Park

As part of the Traffic Management Plan within St. Anne's Park we require from your club a list of member’s cars' registrations so as we can ensure no unauthorised vehicles are within the Park.

I understand that, when events are on as per your calendar, there will be vehicles needing access.
We shall need, on the days in question, an officer from your club to gather this information & show to our Park Warden Service, if requested.

Only authorised vehicles shall be allowed into the Park.

Please note that the access gate from All Saints Road must be kept closed at all times. This is the responsibility of your Club.

In order for the committee to control this when you register to race in Club / National events it will be a requirement for members to provide car registration details.

We will also require you to provide this information in the space provided on the website to allow us build a database to pass to the park which will be important if you want to take vehicles into the park on non race days for testing etc. You can do this at http://parking.orcaireland.ie

On Saturday, 12th June 2010 there will be a major event within the Park and it is imperative that this gate is kept locked all day. You may still access the track on this day.

On Sunday 20th June @ 11.00am there will be the 6th Annual Mid-Summers Day race, starting/finishing from opposite the car track. There will be restricted vehicle access from 10.00am to 12.30pm during this race. This is the weekend of National round 3.

This letter came directly from the parks department and must be complied with at all times. This also means no going in and out at lunch times, so best take a lunch with you.

Finally there are still some memberships outstanding and if not paid up on or before National round 3 then the committee will have to unfortunately not allow those race due to insurance issues as we have discussed before.

ORCA Secretary
